Mutton Sukka

Mutton sukka is a delicious dish made with goat meat. This South Indian delicacy is a spicy dish but tastes splendid. This goes well with most of the rice dishes.

Mutton Sukka

 Ingredients:

  • Mutton - 1/2 kg or 1 lb ( chopped)
  • Onion - 2 (medium sized) (finely chopped)
  • Green chilli -1
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves - 20 leaves
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Cinnamon - 1 inch stick
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Oil
  • Salt to taste
To Grind:
  • Pottu Kadalai / Fried Gram /  Roasted Bengal Gram - 1/4 cup
Grind fried gram to a fine powder.
 


Method:
  1. In a pressure cooker take mutton. Add turmeric powder, salt, curry leaves, 1 green chilli, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste, 1 1/2 table spoon oil. Pour water just enough for mutton to cook and give a stir. Pressure cook the mutton until it is tender.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add cinnamon, bay leaf and saute.
  3. Add onions and saute until they are slightly brown.
  4. Add chilli powder, pepper powder and saute.
  5. Now add the cooked mutton and saute.
  6. Allow to cook until the water evaporates.
  7. Finally add 2 spoon of the ground fried gram powder and stir. 
  8. Turn off heat and serve hot.
