Keerai Poriyal / Spinach stir fry


Spinach is a food loaded with lots of nutrients. Keerai / Spinach poriyal is a simple and healthy dish. Keerai poriyal is one of the easiest and healthiest side dish which goes well with rice. 

Keerai Poriyal

  Ingredients:
  • Spinach / Keerai - 1 bunch
  • Onion - 1 (finely chopped)
  • Red chillies - 2
  • Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
  • Mustard seeds (for seasoning)
  • Urad dhal - 1/2 tbsp
  • Oil
  • Salt to taste
 

Method:
  1. Heat 1 table spoon oil in a pan, add mustard seeds. Once the mustard seeds splutter, add urad dhal, red chillies and saute.
  2. Now add onions and saute till the onions become translucent.
  3. Add spinach (keerai) and saute well by adding salt.
  4. Lower the flame and allow the spinach to cook by stirring time to time.
  5. Once the spinach has cooked , add grated coconut and stir well and turn off the flame.
  6. Spinach Stir fry is ready.
